Default Fujifilm 4900Z comments

I have owned 4900z for 500 shots in 4 months. It is my favorite due to high resolution, and easy to learn to use. However it is not without problems. THe software from Fuji Film is not self-explanatory, and required me to tack down Fuji Film to get special instructions on making the reader useable with Windows XP. I have never been able to get it to read in my Windows 2000 Professional notebook computer and lost their hard to find tech support phone number. Does anyone have it? Please respond to me off line at hotgrips@cyberportal.net Thanks.

I have considered a higher resolution camera but the 4900Z is really very satisfactory for business and personal use. I do wish it had thr wonderful zoom capability of the laterst Sony digital cameras that have 10x.

If considering the 6900, have a look at the S602, wich is the upgraded model and solve most of its problems (long focus, hard-to-view EVF). The EVF is still not perfect, but the new features and the overall rapidity are a good improvement.

I have cranked off somewhere around 6gb of images off of my 4900 in a year and a half! I love this camera! The 6900 never really appealed to me. The S602 was looking very nice at first, but now I am really wanting even more. Considering the S2 Pro.

Any way you go is a good camera. The S602 does offer a huge bonus with the AA batteries. I chew up those silly NP80's on my 4900 like mad. However, I hear the battery idicator on the 4900/6900 works much better than the S602.

I never have used the Fuji Software, I use a multi function USB reader, which is much faster and convenient than when I pulled the files start out of the camera.

I have had no problems making amazing 8x10 prints from the 4900. I use it for a lot of commercial product shots and have even used the images in 48x96 inch vinyl banners.

Another thing to consider, Smartmedia is locked at 128mb. The 4900 gets about 72 shots in on a 128 and the 6900 would be about 50. The Compact flash on the S602 would offer much more expansion.

However, a used/refurbed 4900/6900 could easily be found for about half of a new S602.
