I have just purchased a new S7000 but having read some reviews on CF usage and battery drain I am concerned and would like to check my serial number out.

I have read that production after No 34L60001 is fine with no issues, my units serial starts 5EL and I'm not sure how to check it out or know the date of manufacture ?.

I appreciate any pointers in the right direction, cheers

I don't know the answer specifically, but since that is an old issue, and since 5 is greater than 3, I'd say you're safe.

If you`ve bought it this year you`ll be fine. It was ones that were made well before X mas that was haveing those problems.

As per Fuji web site:

There is no fix, remove CFcard when camera not in use!

Actually there is a fix. You have to send the affected camera back to fuji for them to fix it. Your right however that after the affected numbers the cameras are fine. I have one of the older ones and it does have the issue however in only does it with one of my CF Ultra cards I have but dont use often enough to worry about getting if fixed.
