Following one or two fairly lengthy discussions on other threads on this forum I approached Fuji on the issue of add-on lenses and received the following response from them:

The FinePix S9000 digital camera can use 58mm filters available from professional photo supply retailers. Unfortunately, you cannot attach adapter rings, telephoto lenses or wide-angle lenses to the S9000 lens. We are unaware of what Raynox has been producing for this unit and do not recommend using them until we have run tests.

Personally, I think this fact should be spelt out in the 9000/9500 Owner's Manual! But then again, I think they are marketing a camera that never needs a lens change(one-upmanship on the DSLR!).
