Barthold, what does that sign mean? I've read it four times and still don't get it. Abandon pets? Leave dead things lying around? What?

The picture was taken at a pond at a rest stop in Rifle, CO. I assume people in the past have left water pets in or at the pond. This apparently upset the people of Rifle enough to produce a city ordinance against such behavior. Thus next time you should leave your alligator somewhere else :-)

That's a relief. My imagination had carried me beyond the pale. Now, what am I going to do with my Egyptian asp?

Urbanphotos--That first picture looks vaguely familiar to me. Is that on the highway that goes south to Kanab with Zion National Park to the West and Bryce Canyon to the East. I was in that area about five years ago and the Thunderbird motel and the hills in the background look familiar.

I just looked at a Utah map and confirmed the Mt. Carmel is the place I was thinking of. Thought the buildings and scenery looked familiar. For those that haven't been there, Southern Utah has some truly spectacular scenery.

bcoultry, I'm with you on that sign. What the heck do they think they were saying???? I sure hope they only wrote it that way because they were being cheap and didn't buy a bigger sign.

Heck, you might get away with the crime because you could claim in court that the sign made no sense!

"No dumping of animals, dead or alive" might have been marginally better, though even this sends the irregular part of my brain shooting off in ten directions.

I like the signs they put up around here. They hide them under trees, behind fences, and in back of other signs. People spend a lot of time wandering aimlessly.
