I am about to purchase a Canon digicam from walmart.com. The extended warranty that they offer however doesn't cover accidental breakage. And I am not sure if the 1 year manufacturer warranty covers it either. Is it worth it to buy the warranty (Walmart) anyway for the yearly cleaning and for manufacturer defects? Where can I purchase a warranty that will cover breakage on my part?

The general believe here is that store purchased warranties are not worth it.

The logic goes like this:
- The stores wouldn't push them unless they are a good deal for them, and not for us. And boy, so certain stores push them.

My assumption is that this is because:
- people either forget they bought them (and don't use them.)
- people don't save all the necessary paperwork to use them (And therefor don't use them.)

I would also recommend not getting what is called MAC insurance either. I've heard some really bad stories about the run around they give people trying not to pay out the claim. Many sound illegal to me, actually.

You could try putting it on as a rider on your home/renters insurance. I'd make sure they'd do it, though, and that there isn't a risk of them revoking your home insurance if you actually used it. Many Pros do this, but they have *lots* of gear.
