Default Canon A70 v S230 v G2

Looking for my first digital camera and have done a decent amount of research. I have seen some excellent reviews (especially at this site) but am having a tough time comparing cameras from different product lines. I am generally looking in the $250 to $350 range.

The A70, S230 and G2 from Canon all seem to fall into this category. Besides the support for CF/2 v. just CF and the use of proprietary v. AA batteries, I find it very difficult to compare these cameras. I can easily compare the A60 v. the A70 or the S200, 230, 300, 400 etc.

Any suggestions?
Ideas on how to compare these?

Thank you in advance.

P.S. I think I have the field narrowed quite nicely -- but opinions suggesting otherwise are also welcome.

I personally like the g2, since it is in my opinion a step up from the a- series and seems to be more prosumer oriented.

Well, look at the dates of the reviews for one thing as some models are newer. Others have more megapixels than the previous models. Others again have different zoom lenses. Those are just some of the differences.

What you should do is make a columnar list with models along the top and features going down.
