Default Sony DSC-P10 vs. Coolpix 4300

I'll buy a new camera. I'm newbie.
Which one would you choose? the Sony DSC-P10 or the Coolpix 4300?
A vendor tell me the Coolpix 4300 get better quality photos. Is this true?

Thks, for your suggestions!

I bought the Sony DSC-P10, but I ended up returning it. It had a tendency to overexpose some of the outdoor shots a little, blowing some of the highlights like roof tiles, etc.. Also, many photos seemed to have greens that looked artificially bright because of it's exposure choices.

I ended up returning the DSC-P10 for a refund, and bought a Konica KD-510z instead. I really like the Konica.

As far as the Nikon, I've always liked the photo quality from Nikons. Nikons have excellent metering. I also like their "Best Shot Selector" feature. I use it when I want the sharpest handheld photos possible in low light/slow shutter speed situations. I miss this feature in my new Konica. LOL Note: I've owned two Nikons, a Coolpix 950 and a Coolpix 990, so I'm biased.

Anyway, this time around, I wanted a "pocketable" camera and the Nikon is a little larger camera than I wanted.

See some photos from my Konica KD-510z here:

Some photos from the Sony DSC-P10 (I returned it) are here:

Same happened to me before.
I was aiming to buy a DSC-P7, until the salesman introduced me about the Nikon 4300. He also said the quality is more better than the sonys. Which is true.
But, I still stuck with the sony, due to its size and convienent for travel unlike the nikon.
Now I'm about to trade my camera in for the P10, or maybe the V1.
So...up to you!
