As a C-4000z owner I can recommend it as an excellent camera. It's probably nearing the end of it's availability, however it's as good as anything out there and at its current price must represent value.

Check out my site for samples. All photos taken with the C-4000z.

Thank you all for your replies! And thank you, JimC, for taking the time to write that long reply! I've decided to try the C-4000Z - somehow I think I'm the limiting factor at the moment, not the camera

Hi patashnik,
I recommend Oly C4000! Price/performance ratio is excellent, there are lots of functions for digi beginnerīs experiments, you can try macros for 1 cm distance, wide angle (32 mm equiv.) is not usual for this price level. I have only a trouble with focusing on infinite but when making landscape images it is possible to control it by SW.
I must say I am grateful for JimCīs advice as well.

Many greetings from Czechia to Norway. By the way, here in Czechia Oly C4000 (a new one!) is available for some EUR 390 incl. tax. Try www.digineff.cz and there are more links for web shops. (Unfortunately usually not in English... )
