I was just noticing on my Nikkor lenses that the serial # is on the underside (facing to the ground when attached to the body). Either under the "made in Thailand" labling or at the bottom of the underside if "made in Japan".

What about with Sigma and Tokina lenses? Where are they usually located? I will be buying some Sigma and Tokina lenses in the near future. Would like to make sure the seriial # on the lens matches the documentation.

The Sigma leneses I'm considering are the 150 and 180mm macros. Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8.

If the owners of those lenses could post...and I assume all Sigma and Tokina lenses are still "made in japan"?
