Evening All, I am an engineer and have been following SanDisk for a number of reasons. Currently there is an oversupply of flash memory and capacity in the industry which has resulted in falling prices for ever larger memory cards - 2, 4, 8, 16 and now on to 32GB devices.

SanDisk is essentially up for sale with a number of tire kickers. They are a good company with great products, and a stable of patents, technology and joint ventures. They will be purchased (by whom - who knows), so as to reduce the extra capacity, enabling the prices to stabilize somewhat, and bring some profitability back to the segment for the remaining manufactures.

So, where I am going here is if you have your eye on a larger memory card, I would think that between now and the end of the year would be a great time for that stocking stuffer. I doubt that the pricing will get much better that this for a while - especially for the 2GB through 8GB units.

No, I do not work for SanDisk nor do I own their stock. I have just read a number of articles, in the last few weeks in the trade papers and this is what is going on under the covers.

Just a heads up...

I just bought a 2gb compact flash card which is the biggest card my camera accepts - for $11 US dollars.

What's to wait for?

Cards are always becoming cheaper - as will digicams give more "bang for the buck" over time.

Just jump in when you need something - shop around - and pay the price.

Later your camera will become outdated - the card you just bought will be cheaper in six months - so what??

Just enjoy what you have.
