i just purchased a pentax optio s12 point and shoot.

it has a feature called "d-range compensation"

you can set it to:


when should i use this feature?

the default setting is off.

D-Range compensation stands for dynamic range compensation. Use that when you have strong differences in brightness in your composed frame. It will help even them out.

like heavy dark shadows on sunny days the D lighting alowsyou tobring up the dark shadows.
