I been lurking reading reviews & asking questions on Super Zooms like the fz28, sx10, h50, etc.... planning to buy a camera but I put the buy off until at least spring... no time to use it now.

I was wonderting though, when would new models of the current top models likely hit the shelves? I'm trying to figure out if I should wait and see if the next version is much better, or at least has improements/features worth waiting for. I'm not in a rush to buy so I thought I'd ask.

My theory is always buy a camera when you need it and not sooner as pricing will come down and something will be just around the corner. However, don't keep holding on otherwise you will never get to shoot and as pointed out there is always something around the corner so you could wait forever.

How long has each model been out?

FZ28 Announced July 08

SX10 Announced Sept 08

H50Announced Feb 08

Nikon is the only company who has recently announced new superzooms but I can't recall anything from the others.

Out of the 3 you mention I would probably go Panasonic (although I have a Canon SX1) as the price is very good and the lens performs better than that of the Canon being brighter and the long end even if the long end is not as long.
