Default Stero Slide Scanners

I have hundreds of Kodak stereo slides. Does anyone know how to scan them? I have a flatbed scanner and have scanned ordinary slides, but not stereo slides.

There's not much different about scanning stereo slides, but there are a few things you have to deal with.

1. You generally need to create a custom carrier to hold the 41x100mm mounts. It needs to hold the film exactly the same height above the scanner's glass plate that the standard slide carrier does.

2. If you are scanning to either archive the stereo images pair or to make classic cards for stereoscopes, you need to scan the two images as a single image. This is to make certain that the scan exposure matches on both images.

3. If scanning both images you need to understand that the scanning software's automatic exposure and possibly color adjustment functions will fail somewhat because of the large dark area between the images. Correcting for this should be relatively simple. You don't mention what scanner you will be using, but if its an EPSON model and you're using EPSON Scan simply switch to the "professional mode" to get access to the manual controls.
