Default which is better canon A80 or Kodak 6490

I'm requiring a digital camera for the convenience. I've used slr quite extensivly and want the manual controls, but since the digital is new for me I do not want to go in full on until I get a grip. If anyone has opinions on which is better the Canon A80 or the Kodak 6490 Let me know. Also size does not matter to me. Thanks in advance.

The A80 and DX6490 are 2 different cameras, the latter having a much greater zoom at 380mm. It all depends on your shooting style. I'd look at other options above the A80, just to get a feel of what is out there.

A great source is www.pbase.com you can search by camera make/model and see 'everyday' to 'pro' photos. It gives you a good idea of what the camera you might be interested in can do.

Hope this helps a bit

I like the extra zoom of the 6490 and I have seen the results of pictures taken with the camer, they are excellent.
