Default Digital Picture Frames

Hey All.

Does anyone have any experience using an lcd picture frame to display photos?

I saw a couple reviews in the Accessories section but wanted to hear some more about them.

Default CEIVA Frame

I bought a Ceiva frame for my wife last year and did a great deal of looking around then. The Ceiva has a $90 a year subscription fee which I really did not need. The only way you can load pictures on to the frame is through their website service. This is great if you are giving the frame to a grandma and want to send her new pictures. But for me I would just as soon update the frame directly from my computer. The alternatives cost between $400 and $500 while the Ceiva was around $130. So even with a couple of years of the service it was cheaper. The customer service at Ceiva has been great and my wife has enjoyed the frame. They now have a new version of the frame with some new features at about the same price.

Poor Man's Digital Picture Frame - more storage, and no subscription costs:

I bought a used Toshiba laptop with 4GB Hard Disk, 128mb RAM, PII CPU, Windows '98, USB Port, Built in Modem, good Battery, A/C Adapter, CD-ROM and Floppy Drives, and a nice TFT Display for $212.00 on Ebay last year.

You can find lots of free software for slide shows, too.

Of course, the Keyboard Portion adds to the footprint (but not by too much).
