Default Tamron 17-50mm F2.8VC Camera Errors on a D90

I just purchased the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8VC lens about a month ago from Adorama for $628.00. I really enjoyed the DOF achieved with this lens. However, about two weeks ago I started to experience problems focusing on objects an arms length away. Is this normal, I thought. Then, just this week I keep getting errors on my... camera. This was the last error message on my camera (F--)

Has anyone else out there experienced this type of problem with this lens? I kinda feel like I had one just pulled over on me for spending so much on a lens and I'm already sending it in for repairs. I called Adorama and since its past the 14 day return policy I'm out of luck. I just hope the (VC) doesnt stand for (Very Cheaply) made lens...On the flip side I guess I'm getting $25.00 back from Tamron's Cold Cash Rebate Program.

I'm calling Tamron to see what they tell me. Wish me Luck!

Does the lens have an aperture ring like a Nikon lens? Is that aperture ring set to the smallest aperture? Is it locked in that position?

I got that error on my D90 when the lock was broken and the aperture ring moved.
  • The lens is the thing.
