Default Red and Green: Good for Christmas but not my pictures!

Question for all you pros...

I have an Olympus C3020 Zoom and I was trying to take a picture of my christmas tree but I am getting some pretty terrible results. I am affraid there is something wrong with my camera.

Now I know there could be a few verialbles here but the main problem towards the end is a lot of red and green specs in my pictures... a LOT of them! Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this?

I don't know much about this subject but have heard of this and saved the above sites to a folder.

Perhaps this is your problem. I can't shed any light on this, sorry. Perhaps others here can.

Good luck!

Cap your lens and shoot black at exposures say from 1/10th second to a couple of seconds. If you consistently get red/green spots in the same place instead of black, then you've got probs and Santa needs to replace your camera. If your xmas tree is covered in shiny tinsel with lights on, you may be getting reflections. Merry Xmas, VOX
