Default Managing haze for crisp photos

I have a Fuji S1 Pro and I seem to get awesome pictures on bright VERY clear days, but slightly out of focus pictures on hazy days. I have a UV filter. I mainly shoot pix of sailing on the water and I try to manage the autofocus issues associated with that. Does anyone have some good suggestions for shooting on slightly hazy days.

I know that bright, clear light is, of course, the best for photos, but...

Get yourself a good circular polarizing filter and experiment with turning it while watching thru the viewfinder. It can often cut through the haze but a side effect on water shots is often "transparent" looking water instead of the sparkly kind of water pictures that we are used to.

UV and skylight type filters on digicams are only useful for protecting the lens. The auto white balance feature of digicams generally offsets the beneficial effects of UV or skylight filters versus when the same filter is used on a film camera.
