For all our friends who were affected by Sandy, I wish you well, and hope any problems you had were minor.

I just got off the phone with my mother, who along with my sister and her husband, live on Staten Island. They just got their electricity back. My uncle and his wife, and his step-daughter and her family, live in the old section of Gerritsen Beach, Brooklyn. They don't have electricity, all the basements are flooded, and some people have damage to their first floors as well.
So far, 37 people died in NYC. It seems the Army Corps of Engineers is draining all the tunnels in NYC.

Spoke with my brother-in-law this evening. He and his wife made it through with minimal problems, other than scaffolding on their building falling on his car.
Have yet to hear from my father-in-law and his wife, who live in Rahway. Ironically, they recently moved from Florida, partly to avoid hurricanes. brian |
