Default Nikon 18-200mm DX lens on D700

Just upgraded from D90 to D700. Love this lens, but is it going to do well? I know I should switch to FX lenses, but I am wondering if this one would still work?

I think I just got my answer... It will be for sale. Now onto lens shopping. this is my first FX camera. Does anyone have any old film lenses they love with it? I have a couple in my Dads old bag and am wondering if anyone else has tried them...

Your Nikon D700 will work with your Nikon 18-200, but it will only record a 2,7841,848 pixel (5MP) image.

As for lenses, the manual for the D700 states:
Quote:

Type G or D AF Nikkor: All functions supported (PC Micro-Nikkor does not support some functions). IX Nikkor lenses not supported.

Other AF Nikkor: All functions supported except 3D color matrix metering II. Lenses for F3AF not supported.

AI-P Nikkor: All functions supported except 3D color matrix metering II

Non-CPU: Can be used in exposure modes g and h; electronic rangefinder can be used if maximum aperture is f/5.6 or faster; color matrix metering and aperture value display supported if user provides lens data (AI lenses only)
