Default Viewing maps on GPS cameras

Hi there,

I have an old TomTom GPS that has a nice but geeky feature: the ability to upload an image to its file system, put the the latitude / longitude of two corners in an associated text file, then view your image on the GPS with your position indicated on it in real-tme. This is handy for uploading your own map of a hiking trail, park, waterways, etc.

Are there any GPS-capable cameras that do this or something similar? Something like this is never included on a data sheet. A waterproof sport camera with this feature would be great for kayaking.

No. The GPS feature in cameras is solely to embed the latitude, longitude and altitude into the EXIF header of a digital photo.
  • The lens is the thing.
  • 'Full Frame' is the new 'Medium Format'.
