I had talked this over with a friend of mine just the other day. He flies a considerable amount more than I do, and had at one time been convinced that airport x-rays couldn't be responsible for damaging digital media cards. A similar incident actually happened to him about 4 months ago, he still had the Smart Media card, so I told him about FlashFixer's recovery software, I helped him with the software, and it was able to recover his pictures. If software like this wasn't available, I would probably start dusting my 25 year old Pentax.
