Default buying my first digicam

I've been looking to buy myself a digicam. So far i've looked at Fujifilm MX-2900, Canon Powershot A40, Canon Elph S100 or Fuji FinePix 1300. Which one of these would you recommend?

I'm looking for good picture quality...

My vote is for the Canon A40 based on excellent experience with the A10. My primary camera is a Dimage 7 but the A10 still sees a lot of use. Within its limitations it takes terrific pictures that need little tweaking. The zoom range is modest but adequate. It's not a shirt pocket camera but not too bulky. It has remarkably flexibility for a pure automatic point and shoot and the A40 adds manual control. I like the ability to use standard 52mm filters with an adapter. Handy if you need a polarizer or ND for special shots. I've got the underwater housing for mine and it's a blast to use. It uses compact flash memory which is most cost effective as are standard AA NiMH batteries.

Don't forget the Fujifilm S602 as well.
