Ok, I was in a camera store the other day, looking at some new Digital camera's, and the clerk came up and was explaining some of the lens to me. Nothing new, I'm a wee bit familair with Digital Camera's, but, suddenly, he threw this new fact to me.

Lead Content on the lens. What the? I've never heard this before, and I have never seen anything on the Net about it. I am sure he wasn't lying, but, is this factor even close to being important? And if so, where do you find this info?

I think it was a bit of hookie if you ask me.

Now that's a new one on me... I've never seen the lead content of cameralenses discussed before.

Leaded Glass Crystal, yes -- Camera lenses, no.

I did a quick search with Google, and see that there are radiation resistant lenses containing lead for eyeglass wearers, and found this article indicating that lead improves optical quality. But, I don't know why:

Personally, I'll judge lens qualityby reading reviews and looking at photos.
