Default Change in Cameras

I have a 2.1 megapixel camera that is 3 years old. It has the full ability to do manual settings. I knowticed that the new Panasonic camera is only 2.1 megapixel. There was quite a discussion about the new camera only being 2.1. But what I got from the group was that 2.1 is all most of us home users need. My question is whether in the past 3 years, has there been significant improvements to the 2.1 megapixel sensor that would give a better picture. I don't do any printing to speak of. That means I haven't printed anything yet. Or are the sensors essentially the same?

I believe that there has not been much changed in the sensor, but the real change has come in the optics of some of the newer 2.1 megapixel. If your current camera provides you with great pictures then I would not trade to another 2.1 megapixel. The biggest difference in the 2.1 mp camera is the price. I am not familar with the Panasonic cameras so Panasonic could have made changes.

I use the c-2100 camera, I used to have a old HP315 camera. Both are 2.1 megapixles but the difference in picture quality is night and day! The lens is very important amoung other things
