Hi All,

Just after some technical general information.

I am wanting to take photos of carpet to put onto a web site. The size of the end result jpeg to go on the site is 200x150.

Would say a 4MP Olympus Digital camera have an end result compareable to asay 8 MP professional SLR Canon? The reason I ask is that I am reducing the size so dramtically, most of the image information will be lost. I believe in the case, lighting would be more important than anything else.

Any comments, concepts would be greatly appreciated.

I think it just depends how intricate the patterns on the carpet is, and how much of the carpet you want to view. If it's just a small patch of carpet to show as a sample, then 200x150 should be quite ok. A 4 MP original image would be overkill I'd say. A 2 MP camera would be more than enough.
