Default Canon S40 Compatability with IBM Microdrive 1GB?

Anyone on the forum has experience using S40 with IBM Microdrive (1GB)?
Did a search on the archieves, and read Steve's comprehensive review.
None goes to such specifics.

Was concerned because I've heard people complain about
the fact that 340MB Microdrive doesn't work
well with his S40. Not sure if 1GB Microdrive
has the same problem.

Would appreciate any input. Thanks!

It should work fine. Because of it's higher power consumption it tends to lock up the camera during the initial start-up surge when the battery is nearing the end. A freshly recharged battery, or an external battery pack should do the trick. This is the main reason why I mostly recommended people to pick a camera that use the 'El Cheapo' rechargeable AA NiMh if one intends to use the microdrive... (1800mAh for $12.00 @ Walmart or so beat the heck out of all the proprietary ones)

Most folk pick the camera for features and slickness first until they start living with the camera and start finding the pro & cons. This problem get more and more acute as the cameras use more and more megapixels such as 5 megapixels and above where a 128Mb card is barely worth more than a 36 exposures film canister...
