I have a canon powershot A85 and am interested in taking panoramic landscape pictures. what type of lens should i get an what brands are the best. Or should i just buy the one from canon.

Anyone who can help i would very much appreciate it.

For landscapes, you want wide-angle. So get something with good wide-angle performance. I don't know what's good for A85 but look around.

I personally think it is NOT worth getting add-on lenses for these cameras. The cost of the lenses are around 25% of the cost of the camera and it's not worth it IMO. Also many of these lenses aren't really ideal for compacts. If I were you, I would try using the stitch mode and see if I can create a stitched landscape that I want (of course, stitch mode has its limitations eg. can't have moving objects in the pic)...
