I am backing up my pics to cd using the Windows XP copy folder to D:\ option and lettng it burn it. Is this a bad idea? Is there a loss in quality and if so what would be a better way to do this.....Thanks in advance!

Burning to a cd is really just a file copy operation. Nothing in the original file is altered in any way. The copy on cd is identical to the original. One exception, if the cd burning process uses compression, the file on cd will be compressed. However, this is a lossless compression and when the file is copied back to a PC it will be identical to the original.

I use Roxio EZ CD Creator 5 without compression to write cd's and dvd's and have no problems.
