I would reccomend the samsung burner. It does +/- and dual layer. Its reliable and cheaper than the other one recomended.Plus consider this, its not all about speed, sure it can do 16x but errors are possible and more likely at these speeds. I only burn at 4x because of risk, not just on myburner but all. Plus the majority of discs out there that are reasonably priced are only4x-8x. Just someconsiderations...............

I use Pioneer. Best quality.

I also now only use pinnacle studio to write dvd. I have found their writing scheme is more reliable and constant, not to metion it plays on more units.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

In the end I went for an ASUS external one. I'm not sure if they are BIG in optical stuff, but I know they are good for motherboards and I doubt they'd put their name to anything cheap.
