In your experience - or anyone else's - is image quality adversely affected more by the addition of a macro lens on a UZ or a telephoto lens on a wide lens camera? I guess I am trying to decide whether to purchase the Pan. FZ5and add a macro lens or keep the Oly C-7070 and adda telephoto. Any advice about this would be very helpful.

There is more to it than that IMO. The FZ5 is f3.3 at 12X and stabilized. You can't come close to duplicating that stacking telephoto adapters on a 7070. The F5 is around 420mm equivalent focal length at 12X and your Oly is 110. You would need a tripod in everything but direct sunlight to use the Oly once you got it near 400mm.

Ask on the Panasonic board about how they are fairing with wide angle adapters.
