I noticed on the Sony DSC T5 review that some of the pics from the lcd display showed the battery indicator with up to around 300 mins. I recently bought this camera and don't get much more than 100mins. How is this review showing this? Are 3rd party batteries being used? Are 3rd party batteries recommended?

The minutes remaining will vary depending on what mode you're in (for example, record versus playback), and how fully charged the battery is (sometimes a new battery takes a few discharge/recharge cycles to get to it's full potential).

Personally, I would not use 3rd party batteries in a camera designed for Sony Infolithium batteries (as these have their own microprocessor built in so that the camera can tell the remaining charge). For other cameras, I don't mind 3rd party batteries (the Sony models are the only ones that have a reasonablyaccurate batteryminutes remaining system).

But, even with other camera types, quality with 3rd party batteries can vary, so you're taking your chances (and some have been known to damage cameras from time to time). With a Sony Infolithium system, I'd recommend sticking with Sony batteries.
