Default Night shooting

Hi there! I just got my Fuji S602 camera and I just love it! This is my first digicam ever! It takes wonderfuls pictures. My question is about night shooting. What is the best setting for taking pictures in the night without flash (iso, aperture, shutter speed)? I tried making some night shots and they are not that good... I know I should also use tripod, I will definetely buy one.

You answered your own question--tripod is THE single most important factor in taking decent night shots! If the S602 offers either wired or wireless remote feature, that would be rather helpful, too, so that you don't jostle/shake the camera when you press the shutter. Of course, you can use the timer feature to get around this, too.

I prefer to go (I have an Olympus C-4000) with low ISO setting (to reduce noise) and instead compensate with longer shutter--typically 10-16 seconds, depending on how well-illuminated the subject is. Widest aperture possible. Also, if your camera has a "noise-reduction" mode, that can be very helpful, too.

Good luck!
