Since I'm about to spend an arm and a leg on dSLR soon, I'm curious about warranty stuff...

Here's what I know (which is not much):

-> Nikon offers 5-yr warranty on all their lens, while Canon, Sigma and others only offer 1yr on el-cheapos and more on the good stuff.

-> Gray Market stuff are not warrantied by local sites, and Nikon USA even refuses to service gray market stuff even if you are willing to pay for it.

That's all I know... Below are what I'm interested on knowing:

-> While in-warranty, if my lens has problems, such as it won't focus, etc, how hard is it to get it fixed? Do I pay for both sending the lens to them, and have them ship it to me?

-> I've also heard of people sending their lens to be tweaked. Is this common?

-> Are Mack warranties worth it? I want to hear from anyone who've actually sent their camera or lens to Mack and how the experience went.

-> Are there people out there with Sigmas, Tokinas or Tamrons who've had their lens for 7+ years and never had problems with them?

-> Plus, any experience you've had with any of those four companies regarding repairs, etc. would be greatly appreciated.
