Default Critical Issue with a HP Photosmart 120 ... HELP!

one of my friend tryed to push a compact flash on his HP Photosmart 120, form the error side...the result is that the machine is not able to shot, and the lcd display after the HP Logo is unreadeble. But I noticed that I'm able to move between the menu item even if they are not readable.

It could be a phisical dameage to lcd? Is it possible to buy a new one?

It could be a software damage? Where I can find and download the internal softwate or firmware of the digicam?

I Have to trash it?

Please help us

Buy a new Camera. I've been told HP doesn't sell parts. Their camera's are meant to be thrown away if something breaks. Thats what I've been told by a camera repair shop.
