Default HP 850 does not focus sharply

After comparing the fuji finepix s602 and the olympus 5050 (due mostly to the optical zoom) I started looking at the HP 850 with the fuji lens system and the 8x optical zoom. I was in a local circuit city store talking to the camera manager who spent an hour talking me out of the HP saying that HP discovered a significant noise proplem with this model and "fixed" it by modifying the usit so that it gives a relatively "soft" focus ie if you take a picture of grass you will not see the individual blades of grass but rather a sea of green.

As he was not on commission and I did not buy a camera from him (Iam still considering the fuji 602 ) which locally one can purchase with a 5 yr warranty for $150 less that the 5050.
I was wondering if any of you have noticed this? I do not see it noted in Steve's review.

I own a HP850 and I absolutly love it.
It's very easy to operate for point & shoot options but you can also go all the way with hand setup.

For the price and the 8x zoom it's an AMAZING bargain.

Default "a significant noise problem" ???

If you read DPreview HP 850 review you'll see that HP850 is one of bester digital cameras for noise reduction...

I have HP 850 since 2 months 1/2 and it's really a good camera

My gallery : http://photos.chatterie-koolkat.com (more than 150 photos with HP850, hi res, all kind but... in french !)

What can I say, all my friends that have used a digital camera are leaving theirs behind after seeing my HP Photosmart 850 and are getting one. All the ones that are considering buying one, have left their other camera choices behind and are getting this one.

If you want to know how good an 8x optical + 7x digital = 56x looks like, go to http://www.dp-now.com/cgi-bin/forum/forum.pl/read/8180 and see my posted sample photos and comments (under Nat).

He-he... I should get a good profit for marketing this product
