I have had my 850 for 2.5 years and have shot over 9000 images. Recently, the camera has started messing up colors, most noticeably in video mode with indoor incandescent light (regardless of white balance setting). The edges of the lighter regions of the image are outlined in bright green or red digi-hashmarks. If I aim the camera at a dark object (so it compensates to brighten the exposure), the bad colors go away.

If I take a still image using the flash, the image is outlined in orange or purple (like around fingers or along the jawline).

Has anyone else seen this? Is this what happens to cameras after 9000 shots?

I re-upgraded the firmware (I already had the latest, but I thought perhaps it was corrupted) ran through all the diagnostics in the camera (PASS all). No dice. The LCD tests look fine. It's only when using the LCD for "live view" (or when reviewing images) that the problem is seen. I hoped it was just an annoying display problem, but the aberations are truly present once the images are downloaded to PC.

Any suggestions? Has this happened to your camera, too? If so, after how many images?
