Does anyone know how to fix this? This has been going on for weeks and I'm debating weither to get it repaired or replaced.

looks like its a camera processing problem. The camera captures the photo, but doesnt transfer right, either to the memory card, or to the computer.

Just to troubleshoot, try a different memory card, or try transferring an image to a different computer. If none of these solves the problem, then best bet its the camera itself.

Have you taken clean photos after this problem occured?

This problem has been occuring before but very less threating. It happened, went away and then I continued to take better photos w/o the blotch. But a few weeks ago, it really setted in and the problem continues as of now.

I've tried shooting w/different memory cards; doesn't help, upload to a different computer; still doesn't help, so I have no clue what to do.

Would it be cheaper to get if fixed or to buy a replacement?

well, it all depends on what needs fixing, or what part hp needs to replace. Call HP and see how much they quote you for general repair. Or you can buy an excellent condition HP 945 camera for 100-150, but I would suggest to invest this on a newer camera. There are lots of new Super Zoom cameras that are much better than our HP 945.

I have a photosmart 850 .. I haven't had your problem, but the camera reset mentioned on that page has sorted out small problems on occasion. Hope this helps
Edit... should have mentioned to look a the part on "Image quality/Corrupt images"
