Looks good Walter but wow - 28 minutes!

I've got some ideas to improve the alignment first but then I'm going to start looking at using DX9 maybe to dramatically speed it up. The error might have been due to memory (I've fixed a lot of leaks in a new version which I haven't released yet) but if you want to mail me the full debug text it might help me be sure. this might be a dumb question but i need to ask, if the current "beta" software you are working on for multi shots only or will it still work on single pictures, jpg's ?

I've added a link on the www.autohdr.co.uk front page to a new beta version which should fix the memory leaks. Not got a lot of time to develop at the moment but will try to keep the improvements trickling through.

I just posted some pictures in the Travel section under Myrtle Beach where I used this program if anyone would like to check them out.

Hi Martin!

I had to test this new Beta-version - v1.139beta, and I must admit I'm impressed! This is getting very good. Mind you, I used 5 near "perfect" exposures with 0,7EV's in between. Nothing spectacular in neither high's nor low's - just evenly exposed files.

Also the mapping-time went down from approx. 28min. (last time) to an acceptable 10min30sec (large files). When saving I got another one of those error-messages. I copied the error-log from it, down onto a Notepade-file.

Anyway, here is the Median-file I used:

And here is the final product:

Quite pleased with it - I must say. Thank you very much, Martin!!!

I also observed a significant reduction in processing time for v1.139beta on the same order as what Walter S reports. That for a 12mp sensor yielding 8MB files.

Thanks all for the feedback - I guess the speed improvement can only be that it was using so much memory before that it was using the swapfile on the disk instead of physical RAM.

v1.141beta is available for download.

I've found it to be 25% faster and significantly better in it's handling of noise than the previous version. A 12mp image on my PC takes about three and a half minutes.
