Default New growth on a gnarled tree

I'm plodding along on my HDR journey. Saw this little leaf poking up on the trunk of this oak tree, so I snapped a bracketed set. Since I was able to brace between two branches, I had high hopes that I would be able to align without too much trouble. Sadly, only two of the three were close enough to not produce artifacts. I pushed on (I've been looking with interest at Martin Sykes AutoHDR which produces good results with even a single image, I haven't been able to get to run on Linux, but I do love the results I've seen posted by others). I've also been reading about people producing good results in Luminance HDR by layering outputs of different processes in Gimp. The image below is my stab at that.

So as I say, plodding along - and I do mean plodding, I can't run the HDR program and Gimp at the same time. I really need to get a new computer Still, all in all, I am having a blast learning and doing.

Thanks for looking.
