The manuals for the Digilife cameras list the following:

640x480/30fps high quality = 1.8Mbps
640x480/30fps std quality = 1Mbps
320x240/30fps low quality = 500Kbps

Since 320x240 is only 1/4 as many pixels as 640x480 (not 1/2 as many pixels), wouldn't the data rate for the low quality be more like 250Kbps? Is that spec wrong? Maybe they're not using compression at the low resolution.

If so, reduced to 6fps, shouldn't it fit into a 56Kbps wireless connection?

Does anyone know the technical specs of the satellite phone broadcasts that CNN does?
