Is such a lens worthless?
Its very filled with dustparticles and very short hair, its easy to count up to over 50 small particles while looking through it.

Does anyone know what that means for the usability of such a lens on an old Leica M3 or similar? Is it totally unusable, or doesn't the dirt in the lens get stuck on the photos so it still might be worth something?

Many thanks
Very offtopic for a digicam forum, but maybe there are some oldtimers in this part of the forum

Actually, most of the particles you see would probably be out of focus anyway, so they wouldn't show up in the pictures the way you see them on the lens.

But it can be cleaned by a good camera technician. Check some of the bigger camera retailers in your area. Or you can sell it "as is". Somebody might like to have it (if only to fill a gap in a collection.)
