My mom's old flatbed Canon scanner quit working and now she needs a new one, she mainly just scans documents but at times does scan some pictures. I think she would prefer one that is not as big as my HP 4850.

I've looked at the Canon LIDE 70 in Office Max for $68 and while it gets pretty good reviews it looks so cheap made, would this suit her needs or is there something else out there? I think she would spend up to maybe $120 if necessary but needs one that is easy to operate.

I hired a computer tech to assist me in selecting my hardware & software; plus set it up right. When I asked for a scanner, he said Epson has the rep for the most intuitive assist-sofware. The new one that just came out for just $100 (same price as the older one) seems quite high resolution. That's what he's getting for me, but it hasn't arrived, so I can't comment further.
