Why does my Epson CX6000 halt & scan very slowly? I reloaded the software & it still scans very slowly & halts halfway through the scan. (It does complete the mission, but this is rIdiculous.

Note that in the past if I was scanning & tried to edit a picture in Microsoft Picture Manager at the same time, it would cause the scanning process to halt, but then it would continue at normal speed.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Do you have it connected through a hub or directly into the computer? My V500 scans slowly and intermittently when plugged into ANY(powered or unpowered)USB2.0 hub... but works speedily and fine when connected directly to any one of the direct-to-the-motherboard ports in the back of the computer.

It's plugge din directly to the computer. Worked fine for a few months then just slowed down. For a while I was scanning whole library-books. maybe I burned something out?...not likely I think, because it does do a fine job of scanning. It just takes 5 mintues to scan one thing. Haltingly. slowly.

copies at a normal speed. I'm thinking it has to be software, and have properly erased every thing related to epson from the computer; reloaded the software. Twice.

Thanks for the reply; I do appreciate it.

... actually, I haven't tried disconnecting, rebooting a couple of times & the reloading software. I'll try that. Wish me luck!
