I cannot figure out if this slide/film scanner is right for me. It is getting a mixed bag type of review with some users calling it junk while others are gettinggood results but slow scanning times. The only major review comes from PC Magazine, which gives it a 3star out of 5 rating, and aonline scanning magazine which is written in German (I cannot read this language).

Btw, Konica Minolta upgraded the drivers within the past two weeks…

Any help would be gladly appreciated, Darryl

I know how you feel, I looked all over the web to find as much info as I could about this scanner and was frustrated with how little I could find. I was trying to decide between a Nikon Coolscan 4 and the minolta and decided to go with the konica- minolta scan dual IV because of its higher resolution and greater Dyanamic range although every thing I read said the K-M had a 4.8 the manual says it is 3.6, I guess if you don't need Ice it will work ok but I sometimes wish I had bought the Nikon instead. As far as using the scanner if you max out the settings it is slow and it feels very light weight and cheap but it scans real nice compared to my old HP Photosmart scanner and it cost half as much. I am happy with it so far and have made some 13"x19" prints on my Canon i9100 of negatives I scanned and they came out great.

I noticed that you gave your opinion on the Dual IV. I am having problems picking up dust particles on scanning. The software that comes with the scanner removes some but not all and I have also tried Photoshop Elements with mixed success. I have also tried blowing off with air and chemical film cleaners. Do you have any advice for me?

I'm looking at this too. I found some reviews on Amazon:
