I have an epson 1250 Perfection scanner which is giving me good service, both for normal paper scanning and for my project about wildplants (www.maltawildplants.com) where I scan flowers seeds and parts of plants. The problem is that I need more resolution now especially for very small flowers, and in the future even some insects perhaps

There was a wave of very good comments about Canon scannerssome timeago, that is on their Canoscan 8000F and Lide 80, which resolves 4800 dpi. Should I go for these or there are better options. I need sharp images with good colour representation (Film scanning is welcomed option but not critical - I can use the epson 1250 for that). I do not know if the Epson have better scanners for this task recently. 200USD is my budget unless there is some 3D scanner in the market!
