I am planning to buy a scanner for scanning photos and 35 mm negatives. I have scanned photos using HP scanners in office but I do not know anything about FILM scanning. Is there anyone who can tell me some info about film/negative scanning ? What is the quality of the negative scanning ? ( Can someone post a photo of the negative scannedwiththe scanner)

Secondly if anyone is using HP scanjet 3670 please advise. Alternatively Which model of EPSON scanner is ideal for me keeping in mind

a) I use the scanner at home (personal use) - speed may not matter much but quality

b) Mostly I am planning to use the scanner for old photos and some unprinted negatives (35mm).

c) After scanning I will create a VCD to view them on TV - ( I MAY NOT PRINT THE SCANNED PHOTOS)

d) I have Canon A75 Digital Camera - Instead of scanning can I do something with this for the above purpose - creating VCD of old photos ?

Please help.

If you want to scan negatives, the scanner has to have a transparency adapter. The EPSON Perfection 2480, or 2580 would besuit your needs. They both include Epson Easy Photo Fix, and the 2580 has an automatic film loader.

Hi, I have a HP4470 c, and it does a nice job on photo prints and an Okay job on Negatives and Slides, if you want really nice you need a dedicated film scanner...but if Okay is okay, then it's Okay!!! here's a sample of a slide scan...
