I have a feeling that my scan times on the Elite 5400 are way too slow.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"With ICE, etc turned on, and scanning at highest res/bit depth with 16 scans it takes about an hour to scan one image - surely this can not be right??

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Anyone have any ideas what I might need to do here, or do I live with the long scan times?:?

With firewire 400 or USB 2.0 at 5400spi and 16bit my times with ICE on are 5-7 minutes. Do you have 2x, 4x, 8x sampling turned on? Are you USB v1 ?

Hi,

I have USB 2. Scanning at 16x sampling....maybe that's it then. Will try at lower levels and see what happens. What is the quality diff if I do this?

Cheers

Pat

The multisampling is a big help with noise. Noise will be greater in the shadows and the blue channel. 2x or 4x should be all you need for "standard" noise. If you despeckle the blue channel only after scanning, it will help the no multisampling scans.
