I was hoping to use the i9900 to print on fine art paper such as Legion Arches watercolor which has a thickness of 185 gsm. The user manuals for the i9900, i9100 & i960 say not to use paper thicker then 105 gsm. Is this a "hard and fast" rule or just a guideline from Canon? Can someone please clarify how well thicker fine art papers work with Canon printers? Most of the information on the websites of the paper companies seems to be aimed at Epson printers. Thanks.

Polara,

I read about this on another website and it's possible to use thicker papers on the i9900 printer. There is a driver setting under the Custom Tabon the Maintenance Page. It's a check box called "Prevent Paper Abrasion". This lifts the print head to accomodate thicker paper. It's all controlled by the software.
