Hi,

I am replacing my HP648C which is bugging constantly as for paper jam.

I ordered the above Canon model. I mostly print text and I will try printing pictures. I am a bit mixminded as some say HP is best and others prefer Canon.

I would like your advice please.

Merci

I have a Canon iP4000 which seems to have the same general specs. Canons are far better than HP for ink cost and better at photo speed. The photo quality is also better than any HP that has a large pigmented black tank for general purpose use. My 2 previous HPs produced much darker text in draft mode than the Canon does in normal. I have to go to best quality to get decent looking black text, and it isn't as fast at best quality as the HP was in draft. Otherwise I like it fine.

I got the ip3000 for free after buying a Canon A400 camera (rebate promotion), and I am very impressed with this printer. Love the dual paper feeds and built-in duplexer, and color photos on photo paper plus glossy look almost as good as my 6-ink i960 printer! Plus it is faster than the i960 in almost every way, especially text. The only negative is plain paper color text and graphics tend to bleed, where they were smooth in the i960.

Hi, I am also very impressed with this printer.

The glossy photos are exactly the same as it would be in a store.

Fast, not noisy and of an excellent quality.

I am very happy with my choice.

Thanks all.

I also recently bought the IP3000 and I am a little worried. I've only been printing out regular black text so far. But every page has fuzzy text. It's easy enough to read, but when you look at the letters fairly closely with the naked eye, you see that the letters are not well-formed.

It could just be that I am using cheap paper (Office Depot copy paper). But I have been using a Canon MP360 for over a year, and have always been totally pleased with its text output.

Is there anything I can do, other than returning the printer or buying better paper?
